EX Maharashtra Minister Anil Deshmukh In CBI Custody
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken the custody of ex-Maharashtra Minister Anil Deshmukh in the corruption charges. Initially, he was remanded under Mumbai Police's custody in Arthur Road Jail, but the CBI filed a petition seeking Deshmukh's custody in the corruption charges filed by former Mumbai Commissioner Param Bir Singh. Furthermore, Deshmukh has moved the HC, challenging the plea, which would be heard on April 6.

SC Extends Interim Protection To Former Mumbai Commissioner Param Bir Singh
The Supreme Court extended interim protection from arrest to former Mumbai Commissioner Param Bir Singh, on March 9. The ex-commissioner is facing corruption and misconduct charges. Extortion Case: FIR Against Former IPS Param Bir Singh, 5 Other Cops
An FIR against senior IPS Param Bir Singh, five more police officers, and two others for extortion by the Mumbai Police said an official on July 22. In exchange for withdrawing cases against him, the accused allegedly demanded Rs 15 crores from a builder who then registered a complaint at the Marine Drive Police Station. Reportedly, the builder's two partners were also arrested for conspiring with the police.

Bombay HC Orders Not To Arrest Ex-Cop Param Bir Singh Till May 20
The Bombay High Court on May 13 ordered that former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh should not be arrested till May 20. Public prosecutor from Singh's side also requested the court to dismiss the "malafide" case against the former top-cop. The Maharashtra government has been asked to submit its views by May 20. Singh, along with 30 other officers, has been accused of corruption and criminal conspiracy.
