NCB Seizes MD Drugs Worth Rs 120 Crore; 6 Arrested

In a major drug bust in Gujarat and Mumbai, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized MD drugs estimated to be worth Rs 120 crore, informed officials, on October 7. With this, six persons were also arrested, including two suspected drug kingpins. A total of 50kgs of drugs were recovered, which were concealed in a godown in Mumbai. In Gujarat, a total of 10.350 Kg was recovered.

IMD Issues Rain Alert For Mumbai, Suburbs For Next 2 Days

The state weather department issued a rain alert in Mumbai for the next 24 hours. On October 6, the India Meteorological Department forecasted that Mumbai and its suburbs will see a partly cloudy sky. The weather agency said there is also a possibility of light rain or drizzle for the next two days until October 8. Moreover, the temperature is expected to hover between 26-32 degrees Celcius.

86-Year-Old Security Guard Beaten To Death In Mumbai’s Powai

In Mumbai’s Powai Area, a 86-year-old security guard was beaten to death with a stick, on October 4. The victim Limbaji Kamble worked in the JC Builders compound, where the incident occurred in the early hours of the day. The accused, identified as Shripat Dengle, allegedly beat up the old man with a stick after Kamble didn’t allow him to drink liquor. Further details on the matter is awaited.

Cocaine Worth Rs 9.8 Crore Seized By Mumbai Airport Customs

The customs officials at the Mumbai Airport seized 980 grams of cocaine, estimated to be valued at Rs 9.8 crore from a passenger on October 3. Reportedly, the passenger arrived in Ethiopian Airlines flight ET-610 from Addis Ababa. According to the officials, the contraband was carried in the undergarments of the passenger. The accused has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody.

Mumbai Airport Receives Mail Warning About Bomb On IndiGo Plans; Security Tightened

The Mumbai International Airport received an email warning about a bomb on an IndiGo airplane, informed officials on October 2. Following the bomb scare, security has been tightened at the airport. The information has been termed a “hoax”. The flight which was mentioned in the mail, was delayed and checked thoroughly. After dismissing the claims, the flight continued to take off and land at Ahmedabad without any hassle.

Final Year Medical Student Hangs Herself To Death In Mumbai: Maharashtra

In Maharashtra’s Mumbai, a final year medical student allegedly hanged herself to death at her residence in Agripada area, informed police on September 24. The victim has been identified as Shreyasa Pathkar, who took her life when she was home alone. According to the police, no suicide notes have been recovered from the spot, and the body has been sent for postmortem.

Raju Srivastava's family confirmed a prayer meeting, scheduled to be held in honour of late comedian Raju Srivastav on September 25, in Mumbai. The prayer meeting will take place at the Iskcon Temple in Juhu, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Notably, Raju Srivastava (58) died after being treated at the AIIMS, Delhi. He is survived by wife Shikha Srivastav and children Antara and Ayushman.

Unidentified Miscreants Vandalises AIMIM Office In Mumbai

In breaking news, some unidentified miscreants broke into the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party office in Mumbra, Maharashtra.  On September 23, the unidentified people who had a sword and attacked people there, leaving two seriously injured. The MIM shared the visuals, which showed men barging into the office even as a man tries to stop them from entering and vandalising the party office.

Malaria Cases Increase By 62% & Dengue Cases By 16%: Mumbai

In Maharashtra’s Mumbai, Malaria cases have gone up drastically by 62% and Dengue cases by 16%. From here, experts believe that the cases will only increase in the coming days. Between September 5 and 11, the number of Malaria cases stood at 118, and Dengue cases at 51. Between September 12 and 18, Malaria cases rose to 191 and Dengue cases to 59. Meanwhile, Hepatitis cases jumped to 31.
