Popular lyricist and music composer Saroj Pattnayak died at the age of 81, after being bedridden since last year. He was born on June 2, 1940, in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. Saroj debuted as a music composer in the super hit Odia movie ''Abhiman'' in the year 1977. He earned fame by composing music and lyrics for programs of Akashwani and Doordarshan.

Academy award-winner, music composer A R Rahman has joined the Glenn Gould Prize jury panel. Rahman will join the 13-member jury panel led by Grammy-winner Laurie Anderson. Reportedly, the jury will decide the winners on October 15 in a live news conference. The award is given to those who contributes to music by using communication technologies; and winners will receive a prize amount of $100,000 and mementoes.

Indian music streaming service, "Gaana" has raised Rs 375 crore debt from Chinese tech-giant Tencent and parent company Times Internet. According to a company's spokesperson, "Gaana is India’s leading music streaming service with over 185 million monthly active users".
