Reacting to a question of the reality of Muslims in India, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, "India has the second-largest Muslim population in the world, and that population is only growing in numbers. Hire 30% Muslims Into Indian Army To Tackle Terrorists: Former JDU Leader
Former Janata Dal (United) Rajya Sabha MP Ghulam Rasool Balyawi created controversy, over his remark on hiring in the Indian Army. On February 13, Ghulam addressed a public event and said, "if there is any fear of fighting terrorists from Pakistan, appoint 30% Muslims in the Indian Army to deal with them." Students Develop Mumbai's 1st Live Streaming Azaan App, 'Al-Islaah,' Amid Loudspeaker Dispute
Four third-year IT undergraduate students from Maharashtra College started developing the azaan (call to prayer) app "Al-Islaah" in an effort to settle the loudspeaker dispute constructively. In the midst of the boiling debate about 'azaan' over loudspeakers, which has silenced many peace activists, the students released this app on August 24 that focuses on live streaming azaan. It will be accessible for both Android and iOS.

‘Muslims Are Using Most Contraceptives’: AIMIM Chief Criticizes CM Yogi’s Population Statement
Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), was not pleased with statements made by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on India's population increase. Punjab & Haryana HC: Muslim Girls Can Marry Of Their Own Free Will At 16
Punjab and Haryana High Court on June 20 declared that a Muslim girl above the age of 16 is eligible to enter into a marriage contract with a person of her preference citing Sharia Law. The ruling was issued in response to petition filed by Pathankot-based Muslim couple aged 16 and 21 years seeking protection from court. The court has ordered the SSP Pathankot to provide the couple with security.

Islamic Centre Of India Asks Mosques To Change Friday Prayer Timings On Occasion Of Holi
The Islamic Centre of India has requested mosques to change the timings of Friday prayers on the occasion of Holi, as per sources. ''Since Holi, Shab-e-Barat, and Friday prayers are on the same day, all efforts should be made to ensure peace and order in keeping with the composite culture of the country,'' stated Muslim authority. Notably, about 22 mosques have changed the timing of the Friday prayers till now.

Owaisi Slams Political Parties, Claims Injustice To Muslims
