UP Police registered an FIR against Alt News Cofounder and Fact Checker Mohammad Zubair. As per the registered case, on August 28, Zubair was charged for disclosing the identity of the minor who was slapped in the Muzaffarnagar school on video that went viral on social media. The FIR names Mohammad Zubair as the accused for revealing the identity of the minor in the sensitive case.

In Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar region, Harpal Saini (50) and his wife Koshal (48) were allegedly murdered, confirmed by police on April 27. In Muzaffarnagar (UP), a woman was allegedly raped in front of her husband by ten people. The couple were returning home, when the accused abducted them, tied husband to a tree and raped the wife. Survivor's family registered a case, following which police arrested all the accused including two minors. Furthermore, woman has been sent for medical examination, and will be produced before magistrate to record her statement soon.

In a peculiar instance, a Khap panchayat in Pipalshah village of UP's Muzaffarnagar has banned jeans and shorts for women and men respectively as they represent western culture. The panchayat, predominant by Rajput community, also warned of social boycott if one is found violating the diktat. Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar police have withdrawn charges against two brothers - Nadeem and Salman - who were previously charged under contentious 'Love Jihad' law. The brothers were accused of unlawfully forcing a woman to change her religion, following which an FIR was filed against them in Mansurpur police station. However, SHO Dharmendra Pal has informed the police have given the duo a clean chit due to the absence of evidence.
