President Droupadi Murmu To Be On 2-Day Visit To Karnataka

President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to be on a two-day visit to the state of Karnataka, where she’ll be attending few programmes. President Murmu is expected to inaugurate the Mysuru Dasara festival  at Chamundi Hills, and on the same day, will attend the felicitation function ‘Poura Sanmana’ at Hubli. She is also expected to inaugurate the Indian Institute of Technology in Dharwad.

Sadhguru To Reach Mysore On June 19 As Part Of 'Save Soil' Campaign

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev is expected to visit Karnataka's Mysore on June 19. He will address a public meeting at around 7:30 pm. Sadhguru began the 100-day solo motorcycle mission for the 'Save Soil' campaign in March. Beginning the 30,000 km ride in London, Sadhguru reached India on May 29. Indian Navy received him with a rousing welcome, as the band played Save Soil Anthem at Kutch, Gujarat.

US: Pentagon Celebrates Indian Origin Army Lt Col Deepa Hariprasad

Celebrating Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May, the US Defence Department showcased Indian origin and dedicated Army Lt Col Deepa Hariprasad. Recognizing the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans, the Pentagon selected audiologist Deepa for this year. Mysore born Deepa, who currently heads the Audiology and Speech Center at Walter Reed, shifted to the USA at the age of three.

Mysuru Library Having 3,000 Bhagavad Gita Copies Burnt By Miscreants

A private-run Mysuru library having 3,000 Bhagavad Gita copies was burnt by miscreants on April 9. Run by 62-year-old daily wage labourer Syed Issaq and located in Corporation park's shed, the library had 11,000 books in Kannada and Urdu. With the help of Kannada donors, Issaq also kept 11 daily newspapers in various languages. Filing a complaint, the police suspects that garbage dumped near the library caused the fire.

University of Mysore To Present Sudha Murthy With Honorary Doctorate

Sudha Murthy, the Chairperson of Infosys Foundation and a philanthropist is set to receive a honorary doctorate from the University of Mysore (UoM). UoM Vice Chancellor, while announcing the news said that they will be presenting only one honorary doctorate this year, which will be presented by the Governor Vajubhai Vala on October 19.
