President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to be on a two-day visit to the state of Karnataka, where she’ll be attending few programmes. President Murmu is expected to inaugurate the Mysuru Dasara festival  at Chamundi Hills, and on the same day, will attend the felicitation function ‘Poura Sanmana’ at Hubli. She is also expected to inaugurate the Indian Institute of Technology in Dharwad. 

Celebrating Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May, the US Defence Department showcased Indian origin and dedicated Army Lt Col Deepa Hariprasad. Recognizing the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans, the Pentagon selected audiologist Deepa for this year. Mysore born Deepa, who currently heads the Audiology and Speech Center at Walter Reed, shifted to the USA at the age of three. 

Karnataka's most celebrated festival, "Dasara" was inaugurated on October 17 by Dr Manjunath, who was selected in honour of the service of COVID warriors. The government has decided to keep the celebrations low-key this year and hence the festival began by CM Yediyurappa and Dr Manjunath offering flowers to goddess "Chamundi".
