Olympian Javelin Thrower Shivpal Singh Banned Till 2025
Indian javelin thrower Shivpal Singh has been suspended from competing till October 2025 due to a doping violation. On October 2, Singh tested positive for the banned substance methandienone, a performance-enhancing steroid, following which the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) suspended Shivpal Singh for four years. Sports Minister Introduces Anti-Doping Bill In Lok Sabha
Sports Minister Anurag Thakur introduced a bill in Lok Sabha to tackle drug abuse in Indian sports on December 17. The bill demands a statutory framework for the operation of the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). It also seeks to provide a statutory framework for the National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL), which is facing a ban by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) due to the lack of technical requirements.
