The Nagaland government on February 28, announced to relax the age restriction by two years, for entry into government services. "The governor of Nagaland is pleased to allow relaxation of age for entry into government services for a period of additional 2 years with effect from 22 April", government notification stated. The Centre extended Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) for more six months. On December 30, Centre issued a notification which read, "The Central Government hereby declares that the whole state of Nagaland to be 'disturbed area' for a period of six months with effect from December 30, 2021 for the purpose of the said Act". The decision was in view of killing of 13 civilians by Armed Forces. 

The Nagaland Government on December 26, announced to constitute a new committee, to look into the withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA). The decision was taken after a recent meeting with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Notably, 13 civilian were killed in Mon district, following which citizens demanded to repeal AFSPA. The panel "will submit its report in 45 days", said the government in an official statement. 

Nagaland reported four new cases of Covid-19, on December 18, taking the total number of cases to 32,169. Reportedly, 701 total fatalities have been recorded in the state, and no new deaths were recorded for the second consecutive day. Also, Nagaland's active caseload stands at 84, at present. On December 18, Nagaland recorded three new recoveries. According to the State Immunization Officer, 7,56,904 people have been vaccinated so far.
