At Least 25 Died Due To Heatstroke In Maharashtra This Year: Health Dept

At least 25 people have died due to heatstroke in Maharashtra, which is the highest in six years, revealed data from Health department. Nagpur has reported 11 deaths due to heatwave, which is the highest in the state. Meanwhile, Aurangabad has reported five deaths and Nashik has reported four. Notably, 19 people had died due to heatstroke, in the year 2016, reported ANI.

2 Arrested For Transporting 196 Kg Marijuana From Hyderabad To Gwalior In SUV

The Nagpur police's Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) has arrested two drug peddlers with 196 Kg of marijuana worth Rs 29.48 lakh, in Kalamna area of Nagpur, on April 23. The accused identified as Ashok Singh Sundaram (27) and Manish Omprakash (30), were transporting the drugs from Hyderabad to Gwalior in an SUV. After the car was intercepted, the drugs were seized, and a case has been registered against the accused.

BJP's Chandrashekhar Bawankule Wins Nagpur MLC Seat: Maharashtra

The BJP MLC candidate Chandrashekhar Bawankule won the state legislative council election from Nagpur. He defeated Mangesh Deshmukh, a Congress-backed independent candidate on December 14. In the first round of votes counting, Bawankule got 362 votes while Deshmukh received 186 votes. Meanwhile, Dr. Ravindra Bhoyar got one vote. Besides, the BJP and Shiv Sena bagged one seat each in Mumbai. As many as 549 votes were declared valid.

Officials To Impose Restrictions In Nagpur Amid COVID-19 Third Wave

The Nagpur administration is set to re-impose the restrictions in the district as the State Energy Minister Nitin Raut on September 6 said that the third wave of COVID-19 has arrived in the city. NMC Starts Vaccination Drive For Bedridden Patients

A special vaccination drive has been initiated for the bedridden patients by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on August 2. Bedridden citizens can register through its website to avail vaccination. This facility is available to those bedridden patients who are likely to stay in the same state for the next six months. Besides, Chandrashekhar Tambe, a 58-year-old bedridden patient was the first one to get jabbed through this drive.

Nitin Gandkari Inaugurates India's First LNG Station In Nagpur

India's first commercial liquified natural gas filling station has been inaugurated by Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in Nagpur, Maharashtra on July 11. Gadkari said people should consider fuels such as ethanol, LNG, and CNG as they are cost-effective. People can save at least Rs 20 per litre on ethanol, he added. Furthermore, he said the ministry will soon draft a policy for flex-fuel engines.

Maha Policeman Loses Both Eyes To Black Fungus; Shoots himself

After losing both eyes to black fungus (Mucormycosis), a 46-year-old policeman allegedly shot himself with his service pistol in Maharashtra's Nagpur city on July 3. According to the police officials, head constable Pramod Mergurwar contracted black fungus following the recovery from COVID-19. However, Mergurwar lost both his eyes during the treatment of fungus infection. Besides, he is survived by his wife and two children.
