Two bogies of Shivnath Express train derailed at Chhattisgarh’s Dongargarh, on August 23. The train was on its way to Maharashtra’s Nagpur, and no casualties have been reported in the incident. Also, since the train was moving at a slow pace, no passengers were injured in the incident. Reportedly, the incident occurred at around 3:42 am, and by 5:45 am the train started to proceed with its journey.

Manharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis announced state cabinet expansion soon. In Maharashtra's Nagpur region, four children were infected with HIV positive, of which one died. Notably, the kids undergoing treatment for Thalassemia got HIV infection, due to blood transfusion, after the blood-bank provided contaminated blood. President of India Ram Nath Kovind is on a one-day visit to Maharashtra, on May 8.  He arrived in Nagpur, Maharashtra in order to inaugurate the permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM).  Notably, the institute was established in 2015, has now a permanent campus in Nagpur. Furthermore, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari received President Kovind at the Nagpur airport.

At least 25 people have died due to heatstroke in Maharashtra, which is the highest in six years, revealed data from Health department. Nagpur has reported 11 deaths due to heatwave, which is the highest in the state. Meanwhile, Aurangabad has reported five deaths and Nashik has reported four.
