National Herald Case

Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, who was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to appear on June 23 in relation to the National Herald case, has sought for an extension "by a few weeks". She cited COVID-19, and stated that she needs to completely recover from the lung infection. Sonia Gandhi was discharged from hospital on June 20 after a surgery, due to profound bleeding from nose following COVID-19 infection.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi demanded delay in ED questioning, as her mother and Congress President Sonia Gandhi is hospitalized. Notably, Rahul Gandhi is being grilled by ED over National Herald money laundering case. After being questioned for three consecutive days, Gandhi wrote to Enforcement Directorate asking for delay till June 20, Monday. He also had been given break from ED questioning to be with his mother who is in hospital.

In Nagpur, local Congress leader Sheikh Hussain has been booked for allegedly for making objectionable remarks against PM Modi. An FIR was filed in Gittikhadan police station, on June 14, under sections 294 and 504 of IPC. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for a second consecutive day for interrogation in the National Herald Newspaper case. After interrogating Gandhi till 11 pm, on June 13, the investigation agency asked Rahul Gandhi to appear before them at 11 am, on June 14. Notably, Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Sonia Gandhi have been named in the National Herald News money laundering case.
