The Central Government is planning to remove all the toll plazas from the National Highways. The Steps are being taken in order to reduce traffic congestion on the highways. In addition, the Central Government will install high-quality cameras on entry-exit points of plazas, to read number plates, reducing human intervention. The camera will read number plates, helping reduction of taxes, directly from the owner's bank accounts.

Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said, the government is trying to make Bitumen usage mandatory for national highways construction. The statement came during inauguration of two National highway projects worth Rs 2,234 crore in Delhi, and assured to hold a meeting with government soon, regarding the matter.
