Russia Warns World War III If Ukraine Joins US NATO
Issuing a stern warning to the US and other NATO military alliances, Russia said that the admission of Ukraine to NATO could result in a 'third world war'. On October 12, Security Council of the Russian Federation, Alexander Venediktov said, "If Ukraine is admitted into the US-led NATO military alliance, then the conflict in Ukraine would be guaranteed to escalate into World War Three."

EU Issues Fresh Sanctions Against Russia, Bans Gold Originating From Russia
The European Union (EU) has issued a new set of sanctions against Russia amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. With this, Gold originated from Russia is now banned. Purchase, import and transfer of Gold which originated from Russia is banned. It also includes jewellery. "It is up to Russia to stop bombing Ukraine's fields and silos, and stop blocking Black Sea ports," said Josep Borrel, High Representative for Foreign Affairs.

US Sanctions $100 MN To Train Ukrainian Troops On American Jets
The United States of America has extended its military support to Ukraine by sanctioning $100 million in funding to train Ukrainian troops in using US jets. This has come after repeated requests from Ukraine for new fighter jets like F-16. Ukraine is likely to eventually evolve out of Soviet equipments and make a shift to the western military equipments.

Sweden Announces To 'Formally' Join NATO
Sweden's Social Democrat minority government said on May 16 that it will apply for NATO membership, following the path of Finland. Sweden's parliament passed NATO membership with a large majority. "The best thing for Sweden and the Swedish population is to join NATO," Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson said during a discussion on security policy in parliament.

Finland Expected To Announce Bid To Join NATO; Sweden Likely To Follow
As Russia's invasion of Ukraine reshapes European security and the Atlantic military alliance, Finland is set to declare its decision to join NATO on May 12. Sweden is expected to follow suit. Russia Withdraws Troops From Kyiv As 'Goodwill Gesture'; Issues 2 Conditions
Russia has withdrew two-third of the troops from around Kyiv, and back to Belarus as a "goodwill gesture" to promote peace talks with Ukraine. However, Western Military Analysts believe that Russia failed to succeed with its siege on Kyiv. PM Modi Calls For Emergency Meeting Over Russia-Ukraine Crisis: Delhi
PM Narendra Modi on February 24, called for an emergency meeting to discuss Russia-Ukraine crisis. Chaired by Modi, the meeting will be attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and top BJP officials.
