3 'PLFI' Naxals Including 1 Minor Arrested In Jharkhand

A minor boy and two other Naxals belonging to the banned People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) was arrested in Khunti Jharkhand, confirmed police on January 17. Reportedly, the police arrested them in Rangrodi village. As per police, two adult Naxals Vishram Kongadi & Kulen Kongadi were wanted in several criminal cases. Naxal Maoist Ramesh Ganju Arrested In Jharkhand

Security Forces and Jharkhand Police during a joint operation on the evening of August 19 captured one of the most notorious and wanted Naxal Maoist Ramesh Ganju. Ganju is responsible for killing at least 30 police officers in the last 30 years. Nearly 45 cases have been registered in the states of Bihar and Jharkhand in the past years with a reward of Rs 15 lakh on his head.

Schools Reopen In Naxal-Dominated Tribal Villages: Chhattisgarh

Many Chhattisgarh districts are dominated by Naxals which makes it difficult for the government to make developments. However, on August 14, after 16 years of fight and struggle, 116 schools reopened in the Naxal-dominated area of the Bijapur district providing education to 2,800 children. "Many schools were destroyed by Naxals in last 15-16 years. The children from Pedda Jojer can get an education now," District Collector said.

Chhattisgarh Security Forces Kill Maoist Having Rs 5 Lakh Bounty On Him

The Chhattisgarh Police's District Reserve Guard wing on April 20 killed a Naxal in an encounter in Dantewada. A 9-mm pistol, three kg IED, backpacks and a muzzle-loading gun have also been recovered from the encounter site. Identified as Kosa, the Maoist "military intelligence in charge" had a Rs 5 lakh bounty on him. Reportedly, he was the mastermind behind at least 15 Naxal attacks.

5 Jawans Killed, 20 Injured In Encounter In Chhattisgarh's Bijapur

In an anti-Naxal operation on April 3, five security personnel were killed while 20 got injured in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur. In the retaliatory fire, the security forces killed three Naxals including a woman. Reportedly, the Naxals opened fire on a joint party, comprising 400 personnel of the STF, DRG, CRPF and COBRA, in Silger forest of Tarem. Following the encounter, nine ambulances and two Mi-17 helicopters were sent for help.

Naxal Activities Drop By 47% As 23 More Districts Become LWE Free: Govt

The Centre on February 9 said that the Left-wing extremism has declined by 47% in the last five years as compared to the figures of 2009-2014. The government stated that number of districts affected by Naxalism has also dropped from 76 (2013) to 53 in 2020. Moreover, LWE incidents have declined by 70%, from 2,258 (2009) to 665 in 2020.
