Punjab and Haryana saw a rise in crimes against women in 2021 compared to 2020, released a report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). On August 30, the report suggested that the two states are top in crime against women, but Punjab saw a drop of 11% in overall crime incidents in 2021. Moreover, Haryana registered a rise of 7% in overall crime. 
 

According to data released by the National Crime Records Bureau, there is a decline in the cases of kidnapping, abduction, or attempt to rape in the year 2020 as compared to 2019 numbers. The change may be due to the Covid-19 Lockdown and other restrictions. Delhi police reported the tally of cases as 2,938 filed under kidnapping, murder, rape, and around 1,840 cases of assault.

The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has decided to put 'transgender' as a separate category under the gender classification form in its prison statistics 2020. The NCRB has informed the Delhi High Court against a PIL filed by a law graduate Karan Tripathi, which sought a third-gender classification in the statistics. According to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Delhi has reported most juvenile crimes among India's cities for the third consecutive year with 2,760 cases in 2019, followed by Chennai (647) and Mumbai (611). In states, Madhya Pradesh tops the chart with 5,522 cases, followed by Maharashtra (5189).
