No Response From Authority Over Violence Against Women, Says NCW Chairperson
The Manipur Violent assault has led to a detailed discussion over security of citizens, especially women amid the ongoing war in Manipur. After the viral incident, the National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Rekha Sharma said, they tried connection the authorities over incidents of violence against women but no response was received from them. She further said, "We reached out to authorities but no response."

Bihar IAS Harjot Kaur Apologises For Contraceptive Remark To Girl
Bihar IAS officer and Women & Child Development MD Harjot Kaur apologised for her "you want condoms too" remark to a girl, who asked for sanitary pads at government-schools. On September 29, in apology, Kaur said, "I express regret if my words hurt any girl's sentiments. I didn't intend to humiliate anyone or hurt anyone's sentiments." The apology came after the National Commission for Women took cognizance and demanded reply.

Legal Aid Clinic Inaugurated In Delhi To Fix Women's Grievances
The National Commission for Women (NCW) joined hands with Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) to launch a legal aid clinic. In addition, the body will act as a single-window facility for fixing the grievances of women by providing them free legal assistance. Notably, NCW is also planning to build similar legal service clinics in different State Commissions for Women.

Javed Habib's Spitting On Woman's Head Video Goes Viral, Probe Begins
Celebrity hairstylist Javed Habib went viral for his spitting video, during a workshop in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar. On January 6, Habib was seen spitting on a woman's head, following which the National Commission for Women (NCW) asked the UP police to probe the matter and take strict action as spitting in public is a punishable offence under Disaster Management Act 2005. Besides, he's been sent a notice for a hearing.

NCW Launches 24/7 Helpline For Women Who Encounter Violence
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has introduced a 24X7 online help service to assist the affected women who are subjected to sexual harassment and violence. Women can call "7827170170" and a team of trained experts and specialists will offer swift responses. The number will also give access to one-stop centers, psycho-social counseling, and other services. The service will be operated from the Delhi office of the NCW.

Badaun Rape: NCW's Chandramukhi Says Victim Shouldn't Have Gone Out
In the Badaun rape-murder case, the National Commission for Women member Chandramukhi Devi has made a shocking statement. Chandramukhhi said the incident would not have happened had she avoided to go out in the evening. "I tell women again and again that they should never go out at odd hours under anyone's influence," she added. Calling the incident “most heinous”, Chandramukhi also appealed for strict action.

Women Commission Issues Notice To BJP Leader Ranjeet Srivastava
BJP leader Ranjeet Srivastava was issued a notice by National Commission for Women on October 7 against his alleged offensive remarks on the Hathras rape victim. The commission has asked the BJP leader to give an explanation before it on October 26. Rekha Sharma, chairperson of NCW tweeted, "He is not fit to be called leader of any party." Earlier, the BJP leader has made comments on the victim's character.

NCW Serves Notice To Digvijaya Singh, Others For Revealing Hathras Victim's Identity
Former Madhya Pradesh CM, Digvijaya Singh, actress Swara Bhaskar, and BJP IT Cell chief, Amit Malviya have been served notices by the National Commission for Women (NCW) for allegedly revealing the identity of Hathras victim on social media. Under the IPC, a person can be imprisoned for upto 2 years for revealing victim’s identity. The NCW, in the notice has sought an explanation and asked to take down the posts immediately.

Delhi: One Person Arrested for Allegedly Raping 86-year-old Woman
An 86-year-old woman was allegedly raped in the Chhawla region of south west Delhi in the evening of September 7. According to a senior police officer, the victim was traveling to a nearby village when the accused, identified as Sonu (37), offered her a lift and turned towards an isolated area to rape her. Reportedly, the medical examination has showed several injuries and bruises on the victim's body.
