Delhi BJP Chief Asks NDMC To Rename Roads Symbolise Muslim Slavery

Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta has written civic body NDMC that names of roads that symbolise Muslim slavery to be renamed. He suggested Tughlaq Road should be renamed as Guru Gobind Sing Marg, Akbar Road should be Maharana Pratap Road, Aurangzeb Lane should be Abdul Kalam Lane, Shahjahan Road should be General Bipin Rawat. Requests are put up before NDMC council, 13 member body headed by the chairperson .

PIL Filed In Delhi HC Against Demolition Of Primary School In Karol Bagh

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Delhi High Court seeking not to demolish the primary school at Bank Street, Karol Bagh, for the sake of construction of retail space, and a multi-level car parking, on April 30. According to the petition, NDMC proposed to construct the retail space in October 2021. The hearing has been scheduled on May 2.

SC Extends Status Quo On Jahangirpuri Demolition Drive Till Further Orders

The Supreme Court (SC) extended the status-quo on the demolition in the Jahangirpuri region of North Delhi till further orders. On April 21, the Apex Court bench led by Justice L Nageswar Rao, and Justice BR Gavai issued the orders, with the warning of serious consequences. The court was hearing a petition filed by Jamiat-Ulama- I-Hind,  raising questions about the demolition drive's legality and listed the matter after two weeks.

NDMC To Conduct 2 Day Encroachment Removal Programme In Jahangirpuri

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation will conduct a two-day encroachment removal program in Jahangirpuri, the region where a recently violent communal clash broke out.  The drive to demolish illegal construction will be carried out on April 20 & 21. Delhi: Municipality Intends To Build Massive Plastic Waste Processing Centre

As reported by NDMC Commissioner Sanjay Goel, the municipal corporation is planning to build a 50-ton-per-day plastic waste processing facility in Tikri Kalan in compliance with Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 and Central Pollution Control Board. They are also appointing Trash Management Agencies to segregate, collect, and transport plastic waste for recycling and processing. Stray Animals In Delhi To Get Special Ambulance Service: NDMC

To provide medical assistance to stray animals, the New Delhi Municipal Committee (NDMC) launched an ambulance service on August 19 in Delhi. North Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh said that the ambulance also includes a hydraulic system for comfortably uploading the animals and a melodious tunes system to keep calm the animal. The six zones of the civic body will receive one of such ambulances.

NDMC Pays Salaries To Hindu Rao Hospital Staff; Doctors Withdraw Strike

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) on October 28 paid the doctors and health-workers of the Hindu Rao hospital, their long-due salaries. The staff, who were protesting for about a month, had resorted to an indefinite hunger strike from October 23 that was taken back after the salaries were paid. NDMC Mayor Jai Prakash said he had responded to the hospital-staff and urged everyone to work responsibly "amid COVID-19 crisis".
