Shah Alerts Disaster Management Agencies To Ensure Timely Help In Rural Areas

Union Minister Amit Shah asked the NDRF and disaster management agencies to provide timely help in rural, panchayat regions, during natural calamities situation. On April 8, Shah said, "We have made many apps (mobile applications) for a variety of disasters but a definite mechanism should be made so that the alerts reach in time to the remotest location". Shah also asked to involve, NCC, Women's groups, Home guards and others.

Amit Shah Approves Rs 1,887.23 Central Assistance To 5 States

Five states Bihar (Rs 1,038.96 crore), Himachal Pradesh (Rs 21.37 crore), Rajasthan (Rs 292.51 crore), Sikkim (Rs 59.35 crore) and West Bengal (Rs 475.04 crore) received Rs 1,887.23 crores additional fund from the Central Government under the NDRF. Union Home Minister Amit Shah approved the funds during a high-level meeting, held on March 30.

Twitter Handle of NDRF Hacked, Will Be Restored Soon, Says Official

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) suffered a possible hacking attempt on their official Twitter handle on late night of January 22.  It was noticed as the handle '@NDRFHQ' posted some random messages and the published messages were not loading, although official display photo and bio of the federal force was available. Andhra Pradesh Flash Foods: 17 Dead, 100 Missing

Owing to the flash floods, at least 17 people lost their lives in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor, Kadappa, Kurnool, and Anantapur districts on November 19. It's also reported that over 100 were washed away in the flood. The state government also deployed teams of the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF), fire department, and police for the rescue operation. Kadapa airport has also been closed till November 25.

Late Monsoon Floods Kill More Than 150 In India & Nepal

Thousands are stranded as heavy monsoon rains have destroyed homes, crops, and other infrastructure in India as well as Nepal. Uttrakhand region has been badly hit with approximately 48 deaths, and 42 in Kerala, whereas, in the neighbouring country Nepal, an average of 77 people have lost their lives, as of October 21. Reportedly, the government is trying hard to find people and save those who are stranded.

NDRF Teams Reach Bihar For Flood Relief, Rescue Operations

Three NDRF teams reached Patna in special Indian Air Force aircraft from Cuttack, Odisha, for a rescue and relief operation amid floods in Bihar. The 100-members teams arrived with radio sets, satellite fans, and other modern equipment in the flood-affected areas. Reportedly, over 34 lakh people have been affected by the torrents. Bihar's recent heavy rains have caused Ganga and Burhi Gandak rivers to out mark the danger level.

Maharashtra Floods: Death Toll Reaches 112, 99 Still Missing

The death toll in the Maharashtra flood has reached 112 with 99 still missing and 53 injured as the numbers will likely rise with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) still locating more bodies. "Government will carry out rehabilitation measures,’’ CM Uddhav Thackeray said. Districts like Ratnagiri and Raigad were allowed Rs 2 crore while other affected districts were given Rs 50 lakh each from the State Disaster Response Fund.

Mumbai Flood: 4 Died, 11 Injured After Building Crumbles In Govandi

Four individuals have died after a residential structure collapsed at Shivaji Nagar in Mumbai’s Govandi on the wee hours of July 23. Concurring to civic authorities, 11 individuals were injured. At Rajawadi Clinic Four individuals are undergoing treatment while three are at Sion hospital. Neha Shaikh, Mokar Shaikh, and Farhin Shaikh succumbed to death in the Rajawadi clinic while the injured were reported to be in stable condition.

Cyclone Tauktae To Hit Gujarat Coast At Night; Thousands Evacuated

Cyclone Tauktae is likely to make a landfall at Gujarat’s Bhavnagar coast late on May 17. As a precautionary measure, the government has evacuated nearly 25,000 people from low-lying areas in Porbandar and Mahuva. Nearly 100 NDRF teams along with 16.5 tonnes of equipment have been deployed for relied measures. Reliance Industries’ Jamnagar Plant, producing oxygen for whole country, might be forced to shut for a few hours.

NDRF Deploys 24 Teams Along S-W Coast Ahead Of Cyclone 'Tauktae'

The National Disaster Response Force on May 14 precautionary deployed 24 teams ahead of an anticipated cyclone Tauktae from the Arabian Sea. First cyclone of 2021, Tauktae is expected to landfall on May 15 with forecasts of heavy downpours across parts of the western coast for the next 4-5 days. According to India Meteorological Department, the cyclone will reach northwestwards of Gujarat and adjoining Pakistan coasts by May 18.
