Adani Groups Issue Statement, Says SEBI Order Don't Apply To RRPR Over Shares Acquisition

After the halt of NDTV takeover under SEBI Act, the Adani Group led by Gautam Adani said, "RRPR is not a party to the SEBI Order dated 27th November 2020. Consequently, the restraints as pointed out by RRPR in paragraphs 111(b) and 112 of the SEBI Order do not apply to RRPR." The statement came as a counter to a letter issued by NDTV, stating SEBI prohibited aquisition by RRPR.

Adani Groups To Aqcuire 28% Stakes Of NDTV Media House

Adani Group is to buy 28% stake of NDTV.  AMG Media Networks Limited, a subsidiary of the Adani group, will indirectly acquire a 29.18% stake in NDTV.  After the expected acquisition, the company will launch an open offer for another 26% stake in the media house, confirmed AMG Media networks. The stake would be acquired under the requirements of the SEBI’s Regulations, 2011, paving way for Adani's in new-age media.

NDTV Journalist Banned Entry In Parliament, Media House Objects

According to the media reports, NDTV objected to parliament's act of denying journalist Sunil Prabhu the pass for covering Parliamentary sessions for the last two consecutive sessions. The media house claimed that Prabhu did not receive any reason for the ban. However, few journalists believe that the "COVID-19 pandemic has been used as an excuse to limit the number of media personnel entering parliament".

'Times Now' Decides Not To Show Poll Results Coverage On May 2

Citing to give primary importance to COVID-19, English news channel 'Times Now' has decided to pull down assembly election results coverage on May 2. Becoming the first national TV channel to do so, the channel as a ‘symbolic gesture’ will give utmost priority to COVID-related reports. Moreover, while 'Bharat Samachar' and ‘Mojo Story' have opted a similar move, Republic TV and India Today will continue to cover poll results.

Rs 5-crore Fine On NDTV For Hiding Crucial Financial Details

Stating that NDTV concealed sensitive financial data, SEBI has imposed a Rs 5-crore fine on the media company. The market regulator said that the decision was taken against a 2017 complaints, which had flagged some discrepancies in loan agreements between RRPR Holdings and VCPL that have impact on NDTV's business. However, NDTV on December 30 said that it would file an appeal against SEBI's decision.
