School Bus Overturns In Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore; 2 Students Injured
In Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore, a private school bus overturned in a roadside agricultural field in Minagallu village in Buchireddypalem on August 18. The bus was carrying nine passengers. The accident occurred when the driver lost control over the vehicle. Reportedly, two students sustained minor injuries in the incident. Further details on the matter are awaited.

AP Minister Goutham Reddy's Funeral At Udayagiri On Feb 23: Andhra Pradesh
AP IT Minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy's last rites were held on February 23, at 11:30 am. The 50-year-old YSRCP Minister recently passed away due to a cardiac arrest. He was cremated at Mekapati Engineering College at Udayagiri, Nellore district, with full state honours. The final rites were held after a funeral procession, attended by his family, YSRCP Ministers, TDP leaders and AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Flood Cuts Rail, Road Routes Between South & East Andhra Pradesh
Owing to heavy floods in the Penna river the main road and rail link between the south and east of Andhra Pradesh was cut on November 21. The National Highway-16 connecting Chennai to Kolkata has also been closed due to a heavy breach of road at Padugupadu. Reportedly, a heavy deluge also disrupted the bus services at Nellore RTC bus station. A bridge on the Papagni river also collapsed.

Stepfather Rapes 14-Year-Old Daughter For 6 Months In Nellore
At Venkatagiri town of Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district, a 14-year-old girl was raped by her stepfather. The incident was witnessed by her 10-year-old brother on July 18, who screamed for help. The incident has been occurring for the last six months. Venkatagiri police have been on the search of the accused who managed to flee. The accused has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual offences Act, 2012.

8 Including 5 Women Die As Tempo Collides With Lorry In AP's Nellore
A tempo and a lorry collided in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore on March 28, causing death of 8 people, including three women, on the spot. Besides, six injured were rushed to hospital. Reportedly, a group of pilgrims on their trip to Srisailam were traveling in the tempo when the lorry driver lost control and hit the tempo van near Damaramadugu village. Meanwhile, Buchireddypalem Police have initiated a probe into it.

Andra Pradesh teacher sells fruit after being sacked, former students raise funds to help him
Venkatasubbaiah, who taught Telugu to high school students for nearly 15 years, lost his job. He was seen selling bananas on a pushcart. Hearing about his situation, around 150 students whom he had taught five to six years ago launched a campaign and raised Rs 86,300. The school management sacked him on May 14, as his performance had been unsatisfactory.
