Declare Netaji's Birth Anniversary As National Holiday: Mamata Banerjee
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on January 23 appealed the central government to declare Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's birth anniversary as a national holiday. She said,"If it happens, entire nation can pay tribute to the national leader". She called Netaji as an epitome of patriotism, courage, leadership, unity and brotherhood. Notably, Subhas Chandra Bose was born on January 23, 1897, who played a vital role in India's freedom movement.

Netaji's Birthday To Be Observed As 'Parakram Diwas': Centre
To commemorate the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose, the Centre has announced January 23 would be recognized as 'Parakram Diwas'. Mamata Banerjee Demands National Holiday On Subhas C Bose's Birthday
Ahead of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's 125th birth anniversary, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on November 18 requested PM Narendra Modi to declare January 23 as a national holiday. Mamata also demanded PM Modi to "take decisive steps to find out what happened to Netaji". Moreover, she urged the Centre to reveal details of Bose's death in "public domain". Noticeably, this is the second time the Chief Minister has raised the issue.
