Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor and her husband Anand Ahuja welcomed their first child, on August 20. The couple has been blessed with a baby boy, and is receiving congratulatory messages and wishes from celebrities, fans and netizens. The new mother Sonam Kapoor shared her views on motherhood and how having a child is a selfish decision. "Priorities do change and I think that the child will become mine," said Sonam.

Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn have had their second child, a beautiful baby girl. On May 19, he posted a photo of a pair of socks on a blanket on his Instagram, captioning it, "We are both so in love with her, and over the moon to be a family of 4x." Before embarking on his next tour, the artist will spend some time with his newborn daughter. 

A couple in Odisha sold their newborn baby for Rs 12,000, on January 29. The couple, a resident of Jajpur district, allegedly sold their girl child to a relative, who happens to be childless. Notably, the couple is a daily wage laborer and unable to feed the family of six, as they already have three daughters. Meanwhile, the Jajpur DCPU Tapan Kumar Panda registered a case and is investigating the matter. 

On August 30, a 58-year-old woman stole a 25-day-old baby from the pavement in Delhi's Khari Baoli area to give to her childless daughter. Reportedly, the mother was sleeping with her baby and her 5-year-old son on a footpath and found her newborn child missing when she woke up. After she filed a complaint, the police identified the elderly woman with the help of a CCTV camera and rescued the baby.
