Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi announced Rs 2 lakh as compensation to 83 people arrested by the Delhi police for protesting and carrying out a tractor rally on the Republic Day of India. Reportedly, farmers protesting over farm laws broke barricades on January 6 and clashed with the Delhi police in the national capital. Moreover, the protesters also entered the iconic Red Fort and unfurled their flags, said reports.

Amid the tussle between Protesting farmers and the Centre over three new farm laws, a mega meeting has been organized by the farmers' group at GIC ground in UP's Muzaffarnagar on September 5. The farmers decided that they'll campaign against the Yogi government in the upcoming elections. Rakesh Tikait said to farmers, ''Such meetings will be held across the country. We need to save the country from being sold.''

The protesting farmers will observe 'Sadbhavna Diwas' and stage fast for the whole day on Mahatma Gandhi's death anniversary on January 30. The Supreme Court's three-judge bench led by CJI SA Bobde on January 12 ruled that the Centre's three farm laws will not be implemented till further orders. The "extremely disappointed" court also ordered formation of an expert committee comprising four members. Just a day before "Bharat Bandh" called by farmers, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on December 7 visited the Delhi-Haryana border to extend his support to the ongoing protest. He also reviewed arrangements made at the venue for the farmers protesting against the Centre's farm laws. He said, "We support all demands of farmers. Their issue and demands are valid." The Aam Aadmi Party has already extended its supported for the Bharat Bandh.
