Monkeypox: 80 Cases Detected Across 11 Countries

Over 80 cases of Monkeypox virus have been confirmed by the World Health Organization (WHO) across 11 countries, as of May 21. Over 50 investigations are pending, and WHO suspects more cases will be reported soon. "The virus is endemic in some animal populations in some countries, leading to occasional outbreaks," said WHO. However, what is concerning is that cases are being reported in "non-endemic" countries, stated WHO.
