New Zealand: Indian-origin Doctor Becomes Member Of Parliament
In the recently held New Zealand elections, Indian-origin Gaurav Sharma from Labour Party became a member of parliament from Hamilton. He garnered 16,950 votes and defeated Tim Macindoe from National Party by 4,425 votes. Gaurav is a medical practitioner, and had moved to New Zealand from Himachal Pradesh 20 years back. He was congratulated by Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur for "earning a name for the state".

New Zealand Incumbent Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern cleared majority in the general elections to secure her second term at the office.
