Ross Taylor Announces Retirement From International Cricket

Former Captain of New Zealand Ross Taylor has announced his retirement from international cricket. He would retire after the end of upcoming series against Bangladesh, Australia and the Netherlands in 2022. Taylor had made his debut back in 2006 and managed to score 18,074 runs in 445 matches in his career, the most by anyone from his country. Taylor said it’s been an honour to have represented New Zealand.

Ajaz Patel Becomes 3rd Bowler To Claim 10 Wickets In Test Innings: New Zealand

New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel on December 4 created history by becoming the third bowler to claim 10 wickets in a Test inning. He achieved the feat during the ongoing second Test at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium against India. Patel returned with figures of 10/119 from 47.5 overs. In the first innings, India was bowled out for 325. Reportedly, Indian bowler Ravichandran Ashwin also gave Patel a standing ovation.

New Zealand's Pregnant MP Goes Viral For Cycling To Hospital In Labour

Julie Anne Genter, a member of New Zealand's parliament, created a buzz on social media for cycling in labour to reach the hospital before the delivery. She reportedly gave birth to a healthy baby an hour later. Genter shared the incident on her Facebook page. ''I genuinely wasn't planning to cycle in labour,'' wrote Genter. Reportedly, she also did the same in 2018 when she had become a mother.

Shreyas Iyer Becomes 16th Indian To Score Century On Test Debut

Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer on November 26 became the 16th Indian batsman who scored a century on his Test debut. The right-hander from Mumbai scored 105 off 171 balls during the ongoing New Zealand Test match in Kanpur's Green Park Stadium. He's also the third batsman from Mumbai to score 100 runs against NZ. The first Test match against New Zealand will continue till November 29.

New Zealand Closes Border For Foreign Travellers For Next 5 Months

The New Zealand government on November 24 announced that it will open its borders for most international travellers from April 30, 2022, onwards. The new order is a precautionary measure against COVID-19. However, New Zealanders and residence visa holders living in Australia will get entry in New Zealand from January 16. Other than those living in Australia will be able to travel to New Zealand from February 13.

While digging in their yard, a New Zealand couple uncovered a 17.4 lb potato. Doug is the name given to the potato by Colin and Donna Craig-Brown, as a reference to how it came to be in their lives. After mold began to grow on the potato, it was stored in a freezer. The pair is hoping to have the potato entered into the Guinness Book of World Records.

US Woman Develops NZ Accent After Coma; Foreign Accent Syndrome

US woman, Summer Diaz (24) was hit by an SUV while she was crossing the road on November 25. She was in coma for two weeks after the incident, and was not able to speak. However, she went to speech therapy to get her voice back, and learned that she has developed a foreign accent syndrome. At the moment, she has a New Zealand accent.
