NIA Conducts Searches At 7 Locations In Rajasthan Linked To PFI
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided seven locations in Rajasthan in connection with activities of banned outfit Popular Front of India (PFI.) On February 17, the raids were carried out at three places in Kota, and one each in Sawai Madhopur, Bhilwara, Bundi and Jaipur. NIA Spokesperson said, Sadiq Sarraf, a resident of Baran district Rajasthan, and Mohammed Asif from Kota are involved in unlawful activities.

NIA Receives Threat Mail Linked To Taliban
The National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) Mumbai office received an email threatening that a person would carry out a terror attack in the financial capital. The email claimed that a person linked to the Taliban would carry out the attack in Mumbai, confirmed sources. Following the threat, the city police and the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) were alerted and enhanced security in the region.

SC Declines Stay On Bombay HC Acquitting Orders Of Professor GN Saibaba
The Supreme Court refused to stay the Bombay High Court order acquitting Delhi University Professor GN Saibaba in a case relating to his alleged Maoist link. On October 14, hours after the Bombay HC order, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) moved the Supreme Court for stay which was declined. However, the apex court, however, allowed the NIA to move an application before the registry requesting for urgent listing.

NIA Launches Search Operation In J&K After Pakistani Drone Shot In Gurdaspur
The National Investigating Agency (NIA) started an investigation and launched a search operation in Jammu and Kashmir. The development came after the BSF personnel shot down a Pakistani drone, near the borderline in Gurdaspur, Punjab. Speaking about the incident, the NIA has so far not made any detentions. Notably, in the past nine months, approximately 191 Pakistani drones were seen in India, of which 8 were shot down.

Eleven PFI Workers Arrested & Sent To Judicial Custody By NIA Court
A special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested eleven PFI workers and sent them to judicial custody for 21 days, on September 30. The PFI workers were reportedly arrested under the UAPA Act from different locations last week. The arrested persons were earlier sentenced to 7-day judicial custody, which ended on September 30. 9 PFI Members Arrested In Assam In Join Operation By ED, NIA & Police
Assam police arrested around nine persons linked with Popular Front of India (PFI) on September 22. The join operation was organised by ED, NIA and the state police department. The operation involved 1,500 personnel across 11 states. About 106 PFI members were arrested in total, in an operation that commenced at around 1 pm and concluded at around 5 am.

CPI Maoist Activist Samrat Chakraborty Arrested By NIA
CPI (Maoist) activist Samrat Chakraborty alias "Nilkamal Sikdar" was arrested in West Bengal in a case related to setting up units of the outlawed group in Assam, confirmed NIA spokesperson on September 20. Chakraborty (37,) a resident of Seth Bagan Road, North 24 Parganas district, was also known as "Amit, Argha, Nirmal and Nirman". He was arrested from Mahispata, near Narayana School for his activities as a Maoist.
