NITI Aayog Meeting 2023 Begins In Delhi

The 2023 NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting, begins, with the participation of state CMs. and health officials, from across India. The eight edition will deliberate on several issues including, health, skill development, women empowerment and infrastructure development. The major aim of the meeting is to make India a developed nation by 204, and will be chaired by PM Narendra Modi, in Delhi. Moreover, eight parties decided to skip it.

Delhi CM To Boycott NITI Aayog Meeting On May 27

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announced to skip the NITI Aayog Governing Council Meeting, scheduled for May 27. In this regard, CM Kejriwal wrote to PM Narendra Modi and said, "What's the point of attending Nit Aayog meeting when cooperative federalism is a joke," The decision to boycott NITI Aayog was taken amid rift between the Central Government and Delhi Government. Recently. Central Government passed an ordinance to reverse SC order.

Parties Giving Freebies During Election Campaigns Is 'Serious Economic Issue': Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of India held that political parties distributing freebies during election campaigns is a "serious economic issue". The apex court also said that a body needs to be constituted for monitoring such acts. The bench headed by CJI NV Ramana urged Niti Aayog, Finance Commission, opposition and ruling parties, RBI and other stakeholders to propose ideas to control the freebies distributed by political parties.

Parameswaran Iyer took charge as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog, on July 11.  Known for spearheading the implementation of the flagship USD 20 billion Swachh Bharat Mission, Iyer is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of 1981-batch, Uttar Pradesh cadre. He has worked with both the public and private sectors, and prior was a secretary in the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation during 2016-20.

Govt Issues Orders, Appoints IAS Parameswaran Iyer As NITI Aayog CEO

Parameswaran Iyer, the former Drinking Water and Sanitation Secretary is now the new CEO of Niti Aayog, confirmed Union Government on June 24. He will succeed Amitabh Kant, whose tenure is scheduled to end on 30 June, and will hold the position for two-years. "The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri Parameswaran Iyer, lAS (UP:81), Retd. as Chief Executive Officer, NITI Aayog," read order.

NITI Aayog Releases Health Care Services Index, Southern States Top List

The NITI Aayog, on December 27, released the Health Care Service Index 2019-2020. As per the released report, southern states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are top four states with best services.  Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh was the worst on the NITI Aayog index of health care services. The report was released in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and World Bank.

Kerala Performs 'Best', UP 'Worst' In Niti Aayog's Health Index

In the latest Health Index launched by Niti Aayog, Kerala secured the top spot, followed by Tamil Nadu and Telangana among larger states in terms of overall health performance. Although Uttar Pradesh was ranked at the lowest, it registered the best incremental growth. Meanwhile, Mizoram was ranked first among the smaller states. The Aayog prepared the index in collaboration with Health Ministry and the World Bank.
