Shehbaz Sharif Is New Pakistan PM With Majority 174 Votes

In Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif has been elected as the new Pakistan PM. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president was elected unopposed by Parliament on April 11. As per PTI, Shehbaz (70) will be the 23rd PM of Pakistan, with a majority vote of 174 MLAs in the parliament. Notably, on Sunday after the no-trust-vote, Imran Khan was ousted out as the PM of Pakistan, following which Shehbaz has been elected.

PM Imran Khan Ousted After Losing Trust Vote: Pakistan

Pakistan PM  Imran Khan is no more in power, after the "No-Trust-Vote", which happened in the wee hours of April 10. Notably, The opposition parties secured the support of 174 members in the 342-member National Assembly, more than the needed strength of 172 to oust PM Imran Khan. Furthermore, Khan was not present during the voting, following the no-trust vote, lawmakers of Khan's party also walked out of the proceedings.

Pak PM Holds Cabinet Meeting Ahead Of No Trust Vote: Islamabad

Pakistan PM Imran Khan conducted a Federal Cabinet meeting, ahead of the 'no-trust-vote' in Islamabad, on April 8. During the meeting, Khan discussed Pakistan's political scenario and SC's ruling out Deputy Speaker's decision. After the meeting, Khan said, "I have called a cabinet meeting tomorrow as well as our parliament party meeting; & tomorrow evening I will address the nation." No-Trust-Vote will be held at 10 am, on April 9.

Pak PM Imran Khan To Face No Trust Vote, Says SC Judgement

The Pakistan Supreme Court announced its judgement in the ongoing Pakistan Government political crisis and said, the PM Imran Khan will face 'No Trust Vote' on April 9, at 10 am. The bench headed by Justice Bandial said, PM is bound by constitution and can't suggest President to dissolve the Assembly. The court further said, ruling to dismiss the no-trust motion against Imran Khan was a violation of Article 95.

No Trust Vote Against Imran Khan Rejected, Pak Elections In 3 Months

In a relief to Pakistan PM Imran Khan, the 'no-trust-vote' against him has been rejected by Deputy Assembly Speaker Qasim Suri, saying it is against the constitution, on April 3. Khan, whose government is facing a political crisis, demanded fresh elections in Pakistan, saying, "The conspiracy to take down this government has collapsed". In addition, the Speaker dissolved the Assembly and announced fresh polls in 90 days in Pakistan.
