IMD Predicts Rainfall & Cold Waves In Northeastern, North Indian Region

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted rainfall and cold waves on February 10 &11 in northeastern region and Delhi. For the next two-days, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Delhi, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar and Jharkhand will witness strong wind with 25 kmph-35 kmph speed, moderate to light rainfall in isolated pockets of the region. Air Quality Improves In Delhi From 'Very Poor' to 'Poor' Category

Delhi's air quality has improved from 'very poor' to 'poor' on January 17, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 262. The air quality in Noida (323) remains in the 'very poor' category, while the air quality in Gurugram (201) is in the 'poor' category. An AQI from 0-5 is considered 'good', 51-100 'satisfactory', 101-200 'moderate', 201-300 'poor', 301-400 'very poor', and 401-500 'severe'.

Delhi-NCR & Adjoining Areas Receive Heavy Rains For 2nd Consecutive Day

On the second consecutive day, Delhi-NCR witnessed heavy rains in the morning on January 9. After the continuous rain for two days, the air quality in the city improved from 'moderate' to 'satisfactory' with the Air Quality Index standing at 90, while waterlogging was witnessed in parts of the city. Northern Indian Plains To Witness 3-4°C Temperature Drop, Says IMD 

The scorching heatwave over the north Indian plains and hills has subsided while no heatwaves are likely to be experienced in the next five days, IMD said. The temperature is expected to drop by 3-4°C in the next five days. The fall in temperature is due to the south-westerly winds from the Arabian Sea. However, the discomfort will continue owing to an increase in humidity.
