Manipur Govt Issues Shoot At Site Orders For Extreme Cases

To avoid any further incidents of violence in Manipur, the BJP ruled Government issued "shoot at site' orders in extreme cases.  After the night curfews and suspended internet, shoot at site orders are another crucial step taken as a precautionary measure in the violent burning Manipur. The notification signed by the Commissioner (Home) of the state government was issued under provisions of the criminal procedure code 1973.

Centre Transfers 2 Judges To Madras HC, Issues Notice

The Union Law Ministry transferred two judges of the Andhra Pradesh HC and Telangana HC. On March 23, the Central Government issued an official notice, transferring Justice D Nagarjun of Telangana HC and Justice Battu Devanand of Andhra Pradesh HC to the Madras High Court. Money Laundering Laws Applies To Crypto Trading: GoI

In a setback to Indian bitcoin traders, India’s money laundering laws will now apply to trade in cryptocurrencies, said the federal government. In a notification dated March 7, the Government of India said, "The exchange between virtual digital assets and fiat currencies, the exchange between one or more forms of virtual digital assets and the transfer of digital assets will be covered under money laundering laws."

Eknath Shinde Announces Diwali Bonus For Non-Gazetted Employees

CM Eknath Shinde has approved giving festive advances to the non-gazetted government employees of the state government. Annonced on October 14, class four employees, group C and group B non-gazetted cadre employees will also get the festive advance. An interest-free amount of 12,500 will be given as the festive advance and the facility of repayment in 10 equal instalments has also been provided, said new Maharashtra Government of Shinde.

GoI Appoints Senior Most SC Justice UU Lalit As Next CJI

The Government of India announced the appointment of Justice Uday Umesh Lalit as the next Chief Justice of India and issued a notification, on August 10. Recommended by the outgoing CJI NV Ramana,  UU Lalit is the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court. Furthermore, the notification of GoI read, "Justice Uday Umesh Lalit, Judge of the Supreme Court as the Chief Justice of India with effect from 27th August, 2022".

Helmet Mandatory For Pillion Riders In Maharashtra, Traffic Police Issues Notice

In view of people's safety, the Mumbai traffic police issued a notification for bikers in Maharashtra.  Issued on May 25, the notification mandates helmets for pillion riders. Notably, the new rule will come in effect after 15-days, following which strict action, including fines will be taken against violators. Moreover, currently, there is a fine of Rs 500 for those without helmets, which will soon be enforced on pillion riders also.

Supreme Court To Conduct Virtual Hearing From Jan 3, Issues Circular

The Supreme Court to conduct virtual hearing for the next two weeks, announced on January 2. The Apex Court issued a circular regarding the same, stating, amid the rising number of Omicron and COVID-19 cases, the Court decided to conduct hearing in "online mode".  The circular was released today evening, and will come in effect from January 3. Notably, the Top Court is reopening from January 3, after winter vacation.

WhatsApp To Switch 'Reply' Colour Back To Green

WhatsApp scraped its dark blue coloured notifications and is bringing back its green coloured notifications for Android Beta users. Previously the "Reply" and "Mark As Read" options in the notifications were in deep blue colours but is now changed due to the users' complaints of it not being visible due to its contrast. The users will now not receive the blue coloured option in the app's stable release.
