Baghjan Fire: OIL Loses Rs 148 Crore due to Closure of Nearby Wells

Closure of the Baghjan well in Assam has, reportedly, led to the loss of Rs 148 crore revenue to Oil India Limited. Wells were closed seeing protests by workers' group at other wells. The fire broke out in May after weeks long gas leakage was ignited. Oil minister Pradhan said, "Loss due to gas burning could not be ascertained as no measure was possible due to fire and extreme heat."

Baghjan Well Fire in Assam Extinguished After 110 Days of Blowout

Baghjan well fire in Assam's Tinsukia has been snuffed out after 110 days of holocaust. Oil India Limited, along with foreign experts tamed the fire blowout after diverting the fuel supply. Calling it a temporary relief, OIL authorities will soon inject viscous cement mud at high pressure to block the upward flow of gas. Reportedly, the leakage at the well No. 5 of Baghjan Oilfield on May 27, had killed 3 employees.
