Karnataka Transport Dept Bans Ola, Uber, Rapido Auto-Rickshaw Services

Ola, Uber and Rapido have been barred from providing auto-rickshaw services in Bengaluru.  The Karnataka Transport Department, issued a notice to 3 companies, asking to stop their rickshaw operations within three days. Ola Unveils Its S1 Electric Scooter In India

The Ola S1 debuted in India on August 15 as the company's second electric scooter. The Ola S1 has a 3KWh battery and a peak speed of 95kmph. It has an ARAI range of 131km and a normal range of 101km. The electric scooter also has software capabilities such as music, navigation, a companion app, and a reverse mode, and will enable upgrades into Move OS 3 and beyond.

Ola Cab Driver Murdered By 5 Youngsters Including 1 Minor: Thane

Muhammad Ali (27), an Ola cab driver in Maharashtra's Thane district, has been brutally murdered by five youngsters including a minor, on May 29. The accused were arrested on May 30. Reportedly, Ali, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh, was found dead and half naked, near RCC bridge. His belongings including money and phone were missing. Cab drivers union has called for a protest holding Ola responsible, demanding justice for Ali.

Ola, Uber Fare To Rise Amid Fuel Price Hike In Metro Cities

In cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata, the fares of Ola, Uber, and private taxis will be increased. The decision was in view of the rising fuel prices which have crossed the Rs 100 mark in the aforementioned cities. Head of Operations, Uber, Nitish Bhushan said, in Kolkata, Delhi-NCR fares are up by 12%, and in Mumbai, Hyderabad they increased 15%. Besides, Ola also announced hike in prices.

Govt Appoints Experts To Probe E-Scooter Fire Incidents

The Centre has decided to depute a team of independent experts to investigate incidents of electric scooters catching fire. In addition, a fire incident that engulfed the Ola e-scooter was reported from Pune a few days back. "We have asked an independent expert to check what are the actual reasons and circumstances," Giridhar Aramane, secretary of the ministry of road transport and highways.

Ola, Uber Apply For Aggregator License Under New Policy: RTO Official

Ola, Uber and six other companies applied for aggregator license to the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).  The application came at a time when the Bombay HC directed all the aggregators to apply for a valid license, as majority of them are continuing operation without licenses. However, the applications of all the companies have been rejected due to logistic reasons, under new Aggregators Policy.
