Congress Demands Suspension Of BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri

The Congress took strong objections to BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri's remarks in the Lok Sabha and demanded his suspension from the House. Terming the remarks as an insult to all MPs, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said the apology offered by Union Minister Rajnath Singh was a mere eyewash and not sufficient. Strict action should be taken against him, he demanded on September 22.

Rajya Sabha Adjourned Amid Ruckus Over Fuel Price Hike: Delhi

The Rajya Sabha proceedings have been suspended over the ruckus created by the opposition leaders of Congress, TMC, and other parties in the Parliament. The Speaker adjourned the proceedings till 2:00 pm, after the opposition raised slogans and demanded discussion over the fuel price hike, in Question Hour of the Rajya Sabha. With this, it is the second time that the Rajya Sabha proceedings have been adjourned in the day.

Gurjar Community Leader & War Veteran Kirori Singh Bainsla Dies At 84: Rajasthan

Kirori Singh Bainsla (84), Gurjar community leader, passed away due to prolonged illness, on March 31. Doctors at a private hospital declared him dead. In 2007, 2008, Bainsla led the Gurjar quota agitation in Rajasthan. Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla, state CM Ashok Gehlot and other prominent leaders condoled his demise. Bainsla served in the Indian Army for three decades, and was part of the Sino-India war and Pakistan-India war.

Venkaiah Naidu Asks To Review COVID-19 Situation At Parliament Amid Budget Session

Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu, on January 10, called on Parliament Speaker Om Birla. He asked Birla to review COVID-19 situation at Parliament, ahead of the Budget Session, scheduled from February 1. Naidu directed to ensure effective measures to prevent COVID-19 spread and conduct of Budget session. The judgement came after recently, 400 staff tested positive for COVID-19.

Telangana BJP President Bandi Sanjay Kumar wrote to Om Birla, Union Minister Amit Shah and Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan over his 14-day remand, on January 4. Over a series of letters to dignitaries, Kumar demanded justice, seeking centre's intervention in his arrest. Sanjay Kumar, along with 150 BJP cadres was detained for protesting without permission against GO 317. The Karimnagar Court announced a 14-day judicial custody.

Delhi HC Dismisses Chirag Paswan's Plea; Calls It 'Inter-Party Dispute'

The Delhi HC has dismissed the petition of Lok Janshakti Party leader Chirag Paswan on July 9 to recognize his uncle Pashupati Parasa as the leader of the party in the house. The HC termed it as an 'inter-party dispute'. Paswan had filled the petition on July 7 against the Lok Sabha Speaker's initial decision. ''You take your call...But the court cannot get into this dispute,'' said Justice Rekha Palli.
