India Reports Over 140K COVID Cases; Daily Positivity Rate At 9.28%
The Union Ministry of Health said that India reported 1,41,986 new COVID-19 cases, 40,895 recoveries, and 285 deaths in the last 24 hours, on January 8. India's Omicron cases have climbed to 3,071, out of which 1,203 cases are reported to be recovered. Reportedly, Maharashtra is responsible for 876 Omicron cases, followed by Delhi (513), and Karnataka (333). The daily positivity rate in the country stands at 9.28%.

India Reports 6,317 New COVID-19 Cases; Omicron Tally Stands At 213
The Union Health Ministry said that India recorded 6,317 new COVID-19 cases, 318 deaths, and 6,906 recoveries in the last 24 hours, on December 22. However, India's total tally of active cases stands at 78,190, recovered at 3,42,01,966, and deaths at 4,78,325. Besides, India has reported 213 cases of Omicron variant of coronavirus in 15 states so far, out of which 90 people have been discharged or recovered.
