Consumer Affairs Deptt's App Improves Tracking Of Essential Commodities
Citing the recently-launched price monitoring app by the Consumer Affairs Department, the Centre on February 28 revealed that wholesale and retail prices of 22 essential commodities have improved significantly. Sharad Pawar Says Country Needs Comprehensive Policy To Tackle Onion Price Rise
Sharad Pawar has requested the onion traders of Nashik to reopen auctioning of onions in APMCs. He attributed the rise in its prices to Centre's decisions to ban onion export and limiting the stocking up of onions by traders. He further said that he will speak with the Centre regarding the decisions and added that a comprehensive policy was the need. He also slammed the Centre for dropping onion from essential commodities list.

Onions Stuck In Transit to Bangladesh Allowed to be Exported
Following requests from Bangladesh, India has decided to allow the export of 11,000 tonnes of onions that are in transit to Bangladesh. Bangladesh has expressed "deep concern" over the matter calling it "abrupt". Bangladesh said, according to the understanding between the two countries, it expected India to convey the news in advance. Indian government has imposed a ban on export of onions with immediate effect from September 14.
