Semester Exams For All Colleges To Be Conducted Online, Says TN Minister K Ponmudy

In view of the COVID-19 surge, Tamil Nadu's Higher Education Minister K Ponmudy on January 21, said, from February 1 to February 20, all the exams in colleges will be conducted online. The decision over the opening of colleges will be taken after February 20. "The exams for the final semester (after June) will be held physically," said Ponmudy. Meanwhile, vaccination drive for school students aged between 15-18 is underway.

Yogi Govt To Give Tablets & Laptops To Youths In UP By Nov End

Uttar Pradesh's CM Yogi Adityanath on October 23 announced that his government has decided to distribute ''tablets and laptops'' among the youth by the end of November. Reportedly, the initiative will help the students to complete their online courses at ease. He announced the development while laying the foundation stone of a government medical college in Sultanpur. He also attacked the opposition for 'playing with the people's faith'.

25% Rise In Myopia Among Children In Two Years: Research

According to a study carried out by a private Chennai hospital, there has been an increase of 25% in cases of myopia among children in the last two years. Also, those kids who spend more time online have five times more risk of developing myopia. Reportedly, there has been a surge in myopia among children owing to the online classes during the pandemic.

Hope's Classroom Buses For Underprivileged Children In Delhi

Underprivileged students had no access to education during the pandemic owing to the closure of schools. However, Hope, a community school in Delhi came as a rescue as they provided the opportunity of the online classroom and mid-day meals. The initiative has been taken by Tejas Asia NGO, where “Hope buses” are provided across Delhi, inside which children study for two hours on subjects like maths and language skills.

Haryana Govt To Distribute Free Tablets To Grade 8-12 Students

Haryana state education minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar on May 28 announced to distribute free of cost tablets to around 8,06,000 students studying in classes 8 to 12. No Exams For Classes 1- 9 This Academic Year: Karnataka Govt

Karnataka Public Instruction department has decided to not conduct written exams for students from class 1-9. While students from class 1-5 will be promoted directly to the next class, oral examinations will be conducted for the students from grades 6-9 along with an assignment-based approach. The decision was made after analysing the effect of learning and accessibility of online classes to several students citing the pandemic.
