Operation Ganga To Evacuate 8000 Stranded Indians From Ukraine
Indian flight, under "Operation Ganga" will depart from Bucharest, airlifting 8,000 evacuated Indians from Ukraine, confirmed Indian Government, on March 9. With this, the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed to bring back all 18,000 Indians who were stranded in war torn Ukraine, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Furthermore, under operation Ganga, India operated 75 commercial flights and 12 missions of IAF to airlift Indians.

18,000 Indians Leave Ukraine Amid Russia-Ukraine Conflict, Confirms MEA
The Union Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced that approximately 18,000 Indians left Ukraine, as of March 3. Under "Operation Ganga", a total of 34 flights rescued 6,400 stranded Indians. MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, in the next 24 hours, 18 aircrafts including C-17 IAF, commercial flights (SpiceJet, IndiGo) will be operational to rescue more Indians. PM Modi Asks Air Force To Join 'Operation Ganga' To Evacuate Indians In Ukraine
PM Narendra Modi asked the Indian Air Force (IAF) to join 'Operation Ganga' to evacuate Indian nationals in Ukraine, amid the ongoing invasion. Modi, on March 1, said, the IAF's aircraft would be more efficient evacuating more people in a short time. Furthermore, the IAF is to send C-17 aircrafts to rescue Indians, from March 1. Meanwhile, Air Indian flights are operating special flights to bring Indians back safely.
