Police reported on August 20 that sixteen individuals had been detained in connection with a death threat received by state Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah. "9 people have been arrested in Kushalnagar and 7 in Madikeri, all of whom will be produced before the magistrate court," stated the Kodagu Superintendent Capt Aiyappa MA. Alexei Navalny, a Russian politician and critic of Vladimir Putin's Government, is in intensive care at a Siberian hospital after alleged poisoning. On August 20 morning, while on a plane to Moscow, Navalny’s health deteriorated after having tea at the airport, leading to an emergency landing. “We assume that Alexei was poisoned with something mixed into his tea.
