Isaac Herzog Elected As New President Of Israel
Israel lawmakers on June 2 voted for Isaac Herzog as the new Israel president removing Reuven Rivlin who was elected in 2014. Reportedly, the decision came after the opposition united to oust PM Benjamin Netanyahu, in power since last 12 years. Amid protests, two Farm Bills were passed in Rajya Sabha on September 20, through a voice vote. Opposition to Nominate DMK's Tiruchi Siva for Post of RS Deputy Chairman
On September 14, first day of the moonsoon session, election is scheduled for the post of Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha. While the ruling NDA has still not finalised a candidate, the opposition is planning to support the DMK MP, Tiruchi Siva. Tiruchi Siva is expected to reach Delhi by September 10, after which a decision will be taken. The nominations for the post will close on September 11.
