BMW India Donates Rs 8 Crore, Imports 150 Oxygen Concentrators

BMW Group India on May 26 announced an additional Rs 5-crore donation towards India's fight against COVID-19. The amount is in addition to its previous donation of Rs 3 crore. Besides, the company has imported 150 oxygen concentrators to Gurugram (Delhi NCR), provided mobile vans and testing kits and set up isolation wards. It has also created an isolation ward and PCR lab at Tamil Nadu's Chengalpattu Government Hospital.

ISRO Invites Companies For Production Of Oxygen Concentrator SHWAAS

ISRO has welcomed industries for mass production of indigenously made oxygen concentrator named 'SHWAAS'. Built by Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), the prototype is capable of delivering over 95% enriched oxygen by the Pressure Swing Absorption method at 10LPM, which is sufficient for two patients. Delhi HC Asks Centre To Review GST On Oxygen Concentrators

The Delhi High Court on May 6 asked the Centre to reconsider imposing GST on oxygen concentrators and exempt them from GST. The HC appointed senior counsel Arvind Datar as amicus curiae to help the court. Reportedly, the Centre citing its incapability failed to accept court’s May 5 order to refrain 12% GST on oxygen concentrators. The petitioner, in this case, mentioned Article 21 to raise concern on tax.

Akshay Kumar, Wife Twinkle Khanna Donate 100 Oxygen Concentrators

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and his wife Twinkle Khanna have announced the donation of 100 oxygen concentrators to the COVID-19 fight. Sharing the news on Instagram, Twinkle requested everyone to contribute in any way possible. Akshay had earlier donated Rs one crore to cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir's foundation as an aid against COVID-19. Notably, he also had tested positive for coronavirus on April 4.
