Delhi HC Asks Center To Supply 490 MT Oxygen To Delhi Or Face Contempt
The Delhi HC on May 1 ordered the Central government to supply 490 metric tons of allocated oxygen to Delhi on same day or face contempt. Reportedly, the order came after the death of eight COVID-19 patients at Batra hospital due to oxygen shortage. Declining Centre’s request to defer the order till May 3 the court said "Much water has gone above head. Now we mean business. Enough is enough."

Maruti Suzuki Prepones Maintenance Shutdown To Save Oxygen
Maruti Suzuki on April 28 announced that it has preponed the maintenance shutdown to May from June to make medical oxygen available for the patients in need. The company's manufacturing units in Haryana and Gujarat will remain shut from May 1 to 9. Maruti said that although the company uses a small amount of oxygen, they "believe that all available oxygen should be used to save lives."

Delhi HC Asks Centre Why Maharashtra, MP Got More Oxygen Than Asked
The Delhi HC on April 29 asked the Centre why Delhi is receiving less oxygen supply than Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Ordering to either give justification or "make amends" the court asked why Delhi’s oxygen quota was not raised despite Delhi government’s request. Govt Nixes All Charges On Ships Carrying Oxygen, Related Cargo At Major Ports
The Ports, Shipping, and Waterways ministry in its April 25 order stated to waive off all charges on vessels carrying oxygen for the next three months. The Port Chairpersons will closely monitor the logistics to ensure fast delivery of oxygen-related cargo and hassle-free services to handle the crisis at these unprecedented times. However, the vessels carrying other containers with oxygen will be charged on a pro-rata basis.

Oxygen Crisis: Delhi HC Says Will Hang Anyone Blocking Oxygen Supply
Asking the Centre’s preparedness regarding COVID’s second wave peak in mid-May, the Delhi High Court on April 24 warned to hang anyone blocking the movement of medical oxygen. Terming the second wave as ‘Tsunami’ the court sought preparedness of infrastructure, hospitals, vaccines and oxygen. It also asked the Centre, when Delhi will fully be satiated with its 480 metric ton oxygen quota per day.

Delhi HC Says Centre's Oxygen Allocation To Delhi Not Respected By States
Amid spiraling oxygen crisis, the Delhi High Court on April 22 said that Centre’s oxygen allocation for Delhi from plants in other states is not adhered by local administrations. Reportedly, Delhi approached the court saying that oxygen coming from Haryana and UP was not allowed to be picked up by the local police. Karnataka To Receive 400 Metric Tonnes Liquid Oxygen For Health Emergency
Maharashtra-based JSW Steel has offered to provide 400 metric tonnes of liquid-oxygen to Karnataka every-day in order to cope up with the lingering oxygen-shortage. Reportedly, the agreement was signed after a meeting held between Mines and Geology Minister Murugesh R Nirani and JSW representatives. However, Nirani also urged several other steel companies to lend hands in mass production of oxygen to address the public health emergency.
