India's 1st Woman Psychiatrist Sarada Menon Dies At 98

Sarada Menon, known as India's first woman psychiatrist, passed away at the age of 98 in Chennai, on December 5. She was the longest-serving head of the Institute of Mental Health. Menon completed her graduation from the Madras Medical College and received psychiatry training at NIMHANs, Bengaluru. Earlier in 1984, she founded the Schizophrenia Research Foundation (SCARF India). Notably, she was awarded Padma Bhushan in 1992.
