Pakistan Reports 1st Omicron Case In Karachi Woman: COVID-19

Pakistan reported its first case of COVID-19's Omicron variant in a 57-year-old unvaccinated woman on December 13. The National Command and Operation Centre confirmed the news. "The National Institute of Health, Islamabad has been able to confirm that a recently suspected sample from Karachi is indeed the Omicron variant," tweeted NCOC. Reportedly, she's in quarantine at home and stable. The NCOC also urged people to get vaccine doses.

FATF Retains Pakistan Under 'Grey-List', Assigns New Task

Bad News! The Financial Action Task Force has not given any relief to Pakistan, retaining it on the grey-list during the virtually held plenary session on June 25. In a new development, the FATF said that Pakistan had been assigned 27 tasks but it failed to complete the last task of convicting terrorists. PM Imran Khan Denies To USA's Military Base Set-Up In Pakistan

Prime Minister Imran Khan has denied setting up any American military bases in Pakistan, in the fear of retaliation from terrorists. USA's aim in setting up bases is to make operations into Afghanistan easier. Further, Khan stated, the possibility of civil war in Afghanistan, would make his country an easy target for terrorists. Furthermore, he said that the USA and Pak have the same interests in mind regarding Afghanistan.
