West Bengal BJP MLA Assault, Police Says No Evidence

As political slugfest continues over the reported violence in West Bengal ahead of and during the Panchayat polls, the state police on Friday revealed that one of the complaints filed by the BJP regarding its woman candidate being assaulted at a polling station in Howrah has turned out to be false after probe.

West Bengal: 5 Districts Conduct Re Polling For Panchayat Elections

After violent clashes and deaths, the Election Commission of India dismissed polling for Panchayat elections in five districts. On July 10, Purulia, Birbhum, Jalpaiguri, Nadia and South 24 Parganas are conducting re-elections. A total of 697 booths have been set up for the polling in West Bengal. The re-polling started around 7 am, and will continue till 6 pm. The decision was taken after 10 people died in election violence.

Nomination Process For Bihar Panchayat Polls 2021 Kicks Off

Following the prolonged delays due to COVID-19, Bihar's State Election Commission has begun the nomination process for the panchayat elections on August 25, ending on August 31. The elections will be held in 11 phases in every district except those affected due to floods. The phases will kick off from September 24 and will conclude on December 12. The commission will start the counting after two days of voting.
