Tokyo Paralympics: India Badges 24th Position With 19 Medals

As the Tokyo Paralympics Games 2020 finished in Japan on September 5, India performed excellently and secured 24th place out of 162 nations. India had sent 54 para-athletes in the games and managed to win 19 medals, including 5 gold, 8 silver, and 6 bronze medals. Reportedly, India has won only 12 medals since 1968 so far. While China topped the ranking with 207 medals and 96 gold.

Tokyo Paralympics: Suhas Yathiraj Becomes First IAS To Win Silver

Indian Para badminton, Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj, has become the first-ever IAS officer to win silver in men's singles SL4 class final at the Tokyo Paralympics on September 5. Yathiraj lost his final against France's Lucas Mazur following a 62-minute summit clash after defeating Indonesia's Fredy Setiawan in the semifinal. Yathiraj is posted as a DM of Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida) and has a disability due to an impairment in the ankle.
