No Protection From Arrest: SC Orders Parambir Singh To Disclose His Whereabouts
The Supreme Court, on November 18, ordered former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh to reveal his whereabouts, while also emphasizing that he cannot be protected from arrest until his location is known. A Mumbai magistrate recently proclaimed Singh an absconder after he failed to appear in an extortion case. No protection, no hearing till we have the answer to the question "where are you?", the bench told Singh's Counsel.

Extortion Case: FIR Against Former IPS Param Bir Singh, 5 Other Cops
An FIR against senior IPS Param Bir Singh, five more police officers, and two others for extortion by the Mumbai Police said an official on July 22. In exchange for withdrawing cases against him, the accused allegedly demanded Rs 15 crores from a builder who then registered a complaint at the Marine Drive Police Station. Reportedly, the builder's two partners were also arrested for conspiring with the police.

Param Bir Singh Requests SC For Transfer Of Cases From Maharashtra
Citing that there is a "conspiracy to frame him", former Commissioner of Mumbai Police Param Bir Singh has appealed the Supreme Court to transfer all the cases against him to another state. Bombay HC Orders Not To Arrest Ex-Cop Param Bir Singh Till May 20
The Bombay High Court on May 13 ordered that former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh should not be arrested till May 20. Public prosecutor from Singh's side also requested the court to dismiss the "malafide" case against the former top-cop. The Maharashtra government has been asked to submit its views by May 20. Singh, along with 30 other officers, has been accused of corruption and criminal conspiracy.

Maharashtra: CBI To Probe Corruption Charges Against Anil Deshmukh
The Bombay High Court on April 5 ordered the CBI to investigate the corruption charges against Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. The direction was issued on a PIL filed by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh who accused Deshmukh of giving collection targets to police officers. The court said the investigation may not be independent if it was given to the police as Deshmukh's position will affect the results.
