Crude Bomb Blasts In Patna Civil Court, Police Sub-Inspector Wounded
A police officer who allegedly brought the explosive for a probe was wounded when a crude bomb detonated inside the Bihar Civil Court on July 1. Umakant Rai, a sub-inspector of police, has a broken arm but is not in danger, stated Sabiul Haq, SHO of Pirbahore police station. Investigations are underway to determine if the devices had been properly defused before being taken to court.

Retired Army Official For Stealing Railway Equipment Worth Crores
In Patna, the police arrested a retired Army personnelthe for allegedly stealing railway's electrical equipment and rail lines worth over a crore. "The stolen items were kept at a warehouse in Patna before being sold to various local industries," said RPF Sub-Inspector Manindra Yadav on July 1. Furthermore, this is not the first time the accused stole the items, but he used a fake-id sim to smuggle the stolen items.

Gunpowder Produced In Patna Civil Court Blasts Injuring One Cop
A low-intensity blast occurred in a Civil Court in Patna injuring one police officer, on July 1. Reportedly, the police, after seizing gunpowder from Patna University hostel, produced it in the court. The blast occured immediately after the gunpowder was kept in the premises. Assistant Sub-Inspector Kadam Kuwan Madan Singh sustained injuries to his right hand, however is reportedly out of danger.

Drug Inspector's Residence Raided In Patna, Huge Pile Of Cash Seized: Bihar
In Bihar's Patna, Drug Inspector Jitendra Kumar's residence was raidrd in a disproportionate assets case, on June 26. Reportedly, a large pile of cash was seized from his possession, which took the officials several hours to count. The bundles were of all denominations between Rs 100 and Rs 2,000. The officials also found documents of various properties, huge amount of gold and silver, and four luxury cars.

17 Die Due To Lightning & Thunderstorms In Bihar; CM Nitish Kumar Expresses Grief
Grieving the demise of the deaths of 17 persons due to lightning and thunderstorms in Bihar, CM Nitish Kumar expressed his condolences. Furthermore, he announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased. Reportedly, six people died in Bhagalpur, three in Vaishali, two in Khagaria, one in Katihar, one in Saharsa, one in Madhepura, two in Banka and one in Munger.

JD(U) Expels Spokesperson Ajay Alok & 3 Others Over 'Anti-Party' Activities: Bihar
In Bihar, ruling party Janata Dal (United) expelled party's spokesperson Ajay Alok, on June 15. Besides Alok, the party has also suspended general secretaries Anil Kumar and Vipin Kumar Yadav from primary membership. Reportedly, the leaders were accused for running programmes against the interest of the party. "The decision has been taken to strengthen the party and maintain discipline in the party," said Bihar JD(U) chief Umesh Singh.

Heavy Rains Kill 33 People; CM Provides Rs 4 lakh As Relief: Bihar
Due to gales, lightning, and severe thunderstorms, 33 people have perished in 16 districts of Bihar. On May 20, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar provided financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the families of those who died. Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his condolences over the tragedy. A "yellow" warning for lightning and thunderstorm activity has been issued by the Patna Meteorological Centre.

CBI Raids At Least 17 Locations In Delhi & Patna Linked To Lalu Yadav
Lalu Yadav, the RJD chief, has been convicted of various fodder scam charges in the last five years and is out on bail. Central Bureau of Investigation is raiding at least 17 places in Delhi and Patna related to him, including the homes of his wife and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi. When Yadav was the railway minister in Manmohan Singh's ministry, CBI accused him of a recruiting fraud.

1000s Of Bihar Students Occupy Patna College Ghat To Prepare For Govt Job Exams
On the bank of Patna College Ghat, thousands of students were seen preparing for various exams including Railways and SSC, on April 16. SK Jha, an engineer, reportedly helps these students to prepare for their exams. Jha organises free tests for these students, and with the help of 30-35 workers, the papers get evaluated and returned. Reportedly, around 12,000-14,000 students turn up for these tests.
