Unidentified miscreants on September 27 blemished E V Ramasamy's statue in Tamil Nadu. Reportedly, this was the second such instance in recent months. DMK chief MK Stalin and MP Kanimojhi have criticised the act. The state's Deputy CM Panneerselvam, condemning the incident, promised for stringent actions against the culprits. Also known as Periyar, Ramasamy is well remembered for his efforts in Social justice and Tamil movement.
