SC Rserves Verdict On 26-Week Pregnancy Termination Filed By Married Woman
The Supreme Court reserved its judgment on the issue relating to the termination of over 26 weeks of pregnancy. Recenly, the matter is in talks, after a woman filed a petition, seeking termination of 26 weeks of pregnancy. Meanwhile, the Centre has filed an application seeking a recalling of the top court's order by which the woman's petition had been allowed to terminate pregnancy, saying she was unaware.

Relief To Ex Air India Pilot Arvind, Delhi HC Quashes FIR Against Him
The Delhi High Court has quashed an FIR against former Air India pilot Arvind Kathpalia for the alleged offences of violating aircraft rules, including evading a breath analyser test, and forgery, saying the allegations against him are wholly insufficient to make out a case against him. The high court said the petitioner, now retired, cannot be subjected to "double jeopardy, giving a relief to the pilot.

CBI Files Petition In SC, Opposes Bail To Lalu Prasad Yadav In Fodder Scam
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) moved the Supreme Court (SC) challenging the bail of Lalu Prasad Yadav in the Fodder Scam Case. On August 18, the central agency filed a petition, which is expected to be listed soon before the SC Bench. Notably, earlier, the Jharkhand High Court granted bail to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo and former Chief Minister of Bihar Lalu Prasad Yadav in the Fodder Scam.

SC Refuses To Entertain Plea In Large Scale Kidney Transplant Issue
The Supreme Court on July 28, refused to entertain a petition filed in 2019 by a two-year-old seeking a CBI or SIT investigation into complaints of "large-scale" and "well-organised" kidney transplant scam involving corporate hospitals in several states, saying courts cannot be "panacea" for all things wrong. A bench of Justices S K Kaul and Sudhanshu Dhulia said the court cannot be like an all-encompassing system trying to do everything.

SC Orders Day-To-Day Hearing Of Article 370
The Supreme Court ordered to conduct of day-to-day hearings of all the PILs, and pleas related to Article 370. In a major update, on July 11, the Apex Court bench led by CJI DY Chandrachud asked to begin everyday hearing into the Abolition of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir, from August 2. Furthermore, heard by A five-judge constitution bench asked the Central to file all the documents by July 27.

Karnataka HC Warns Meta Owned Facebook
The Karnataka HC warned Facebook that it may take measures to shut down the social media giant’s operations in India. The warning issued on June 15, came amid Facebook's alleged non-compliance with local law enforcement during an investigation into the case of an Indian citizen who is currently imprisoned in Saudi Arabia. A bench of justice Krishna S Dixit issued the warning on a petition filed by Karnataka resident Kavitha.

HC Rejects Petition Filed to Disclose UPSC Answer Sheet
A UPSC aspirant had cleared the prelims but was unsuccessful in the mains, and filed a petition in the Delhi HC, seeking to disclose the UPSC Answer Sheet. However, on June 14, the court ruled that the answer sheets could be disclosed only if it is in the public interest, which the petitioner failed. The bench also cited previous judgments and emphasised that public interest must be established for such disclosure.

Sunitha Demands Bail Cancellation To Avinash Reddy, Files Plea In SC
Disappointed with the Telangana HC decision of granting bail to YS Avinash Reddy in YS Vivekananda Murder Case, his daughter Sunitha filed a petition in the Supreme Court. Scheduled to be heard on June 7, Sunitha, in the plea sought revocation of the bail orders and claimed YS Avinash Reddy to be a major suspect in her father, YS Vivekananda Reddy's murder. In 2019, YSRCP leader Vivekananda was murdered.

Rajasthan HC Gave Important Judgement Over Right To Choose Gender
In a decision towards social change, the Rajasthan High Court said that every person has the right to fully enjoy all human rights. A single bench of justice Anoop Kumar Dhand ordered the authorities to consider modifying the service record of a person who was assigned the female gender at birth. Notably, a person who had been assigned female at birth and later underwent gender reassignment surgery (GRS) and changed.
